At the heart of NLP is the study of the most effective people in a particular field. What makes one person so much more effective than another? Over the last 20 years, John Wellwood has worked with, and trained individuals as business improvement professionals. He has managed to study the best business improvement individuals, consultants and leaders at first hand in 14 countries and in some of the world’s largest companies. This education seminar is designed to pass on this learning and train you to be more effective in transforming your business, yourself and others.
John’s studies have shown him that to be effective in transforming processes and businesses, you need some particular skill sets. Technically you need to know how to assess and identify the issues and opportunities in a business. You then need to have a vast tool set to call on to solve those issues, including Lean and Six Sigma. You then need to be able to run a successful project from identification of an issue to resolution. However the most important skills needed to improve businesses are the key skills most of us are never trained in. They are the skills most managers are sadly lacking in, namely behavioural skills.
Effective business improvement consultants have the ability to influence every level in an organisation. They understand themselves and others. They can hold an audience of either 1 or 100 in the palm of their hand as they explain things, or ask for help. They can explain complex situations simply and in terms the other person or group will understand. They can cope with resistance to change or concerns about a development. They have the ability to be liked, or at least respected. They manage to get people to do things they might not want to do, and ultimately they change businesses and process and make a difference through enthusiasm, drive and motivation.
We will assume that you have the key skills of business problem identification, business process improvement such as Lean and Six Sigma. That you have the fundamental ability to present, facilitate and manage others. This education will help you with the harder parts of business improvement - first understand yourself, then others, and then how to influence and change individuals and businesses.
We not only show you how to be more effective and influence others, but also explain why these approaches work. We will practise the use of tools, techniques and theories to work out what is best for your personal development.
This education extravaganza starts before you arrive with us. You will be tasked with completing some pre reading, self assessments, watching videos and thinking about what you really need to develop and improve. You will then spend 5 days working with our experts, peers and yourself to understand and develop to become more effective. You will then be assigned an individual coach who with steer you to the end of your journey. That journey will provide you with a worldwide recognised certificate which will prove that you not only understand these skills but have applied them.
We pride ourselves in transforming individuals to make them more effective and successful in building their businesses and companies. We have worked for over 20 years to understand the key elements that make some individual’s successful and other fall by the way side. Let us pass on the skills and thinking to make you a success.
| Why is this course essential? |
For many years businesses have used approaches such as Lean, Six Sigma, JIT, BPR etc to try and improve their companies. Many hours of training are given in the technical tools associated with these initiatives. The problem is that once you understand the mechanisms and how to use them the tools are fairly straight forward. Why then do many companies not see the benefits of their investment in the approaches? There are a number of reasons including politics, lack of senior management commitment etc. However one of the fundamental root causes is that the people chosen to run projects and solve problems do not have or are not given the key skills they need to be a success.
You can generate the best solution in the world but if other people do not accept it and use it then it was a waste of time. From our decades-long experience of training and working in this arena we believe that the root cause is a distinct lack of understanding and training in the behavioural aspects of change, interaction and influencing.
The course is designed to fill the gap - giving you insight into the other elements you need to be successful. We will explain the concepts, practise their use and guide you to become a 100% Effective business improvement person.
