What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma, process excellence, continuous improvement –with so many methodologies around, it’s often difficult to get a clear view of what will work.

The basic premise of Business Improvement methodologies, as a whole, is to provide organisations with the tools and insights they need to see where productivity, quality and customer service can be improved.

No matter what size a business is, what industry they’re in or the type of service they provide, all organisations can benefit from having a clearer idea of how every arm of their business performs. Most Business Improvement methodologies provide this in-depth view, and also arm professionals with tools to tackle any specific problem areas.

So what is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma is a Business Improvement methodology, however it is one of the most commonly used around the world. As a result, qualifications and certifications are recognised globally and the training can be applied to any type of business anywhere in the world.

But more importantly, Lean Six Sigma is a strong combination of two separate Business Improvement methods – Lean (which focuses on waste reduction) and Six Sigma (which prevents unnecessary variation). It is the combination of the two approaches which gives Lean Six Sigma its strength as it helps businesses become more efficient, more streamlined and make fewer mistakes.

This results in happier staff, happier customers and significant cost savings.
